Celebrate International Womens Day With Patek Philippe

A CLOSER LOOK AT OUR PATEK PHILIPPE LADIES' TIMEPIECES

As the last independent, family-owned Genevan watch manufacturer, Patek Philippe stands out with a rich range of watches for ladies and gentlemen. As a specialist for complicated timepieces (they make up nearly half of the current collection), the company has a leading position in watch design as evidenced by some of the most recent and important iconic models of our era – including designs such as the Calatrava or the Golden Ellipse.

We have chosen to feature two of our favourite ladies models in the Patek Philippe Collection in light of International Women's Day on Wednesday 8th March 2023.

PATEK PHILIPPE LADIES' CALATRAVA MOON PHASES
REF. 7121J-001

A lovely example of Patek Philippe's collection of moon-phase watches for ladies is the Calatrava Ref. 7121J-001. This poetic complication much loved by women is housed in the iconic Calatrava-style case, adorned with a 66 Top Wesselton Pure White diamonds.

It is a classic and seductive creation that turns any time of day into enchanting moments. Mechanical watches rank at the very top of the wish lists of style-conscious, self-confident women. If they are endowed with a complication, so much the better. And if they radiate the sparkle of exquisite diamonds, even big wishes can come true. Patek Philippe's manually wound moon-phase Calatrava for ladies has it all. It stands out with a classically elegant, round yellow-gold Calatrava case in the timeless "Officer's" style.

This soft backdrop emphasizes the gleam of the applied Breguet numerals in gold, the gold hands, and the 66 flawless Top Wesselton diamonds. Totaling approx. 0.54 ct in weight, they transform the bezel into a miniature Milky Way and radiate their stellar fire around the clock.

It is a perfect stage for a moon-phase watch that celebrates the changing faces of our lunar companion in a small aperture at 6 o'clock – year after year. The moon and the stars are depicted with gold-dust symbols, colour-coordinated with the gold "Poire Stuart" hands for the hours and minutes as well as the dainty leaf-shaped hand for the seconds.

PATEK PHILIPPE CALATRAVA
REF. 4997/200G-001

Launched in 2009, the Ref. 4897 Calatrava ladies’ watch with a guilloched and lacquered dial and the manually wound caliber 215 movement was available in various colors (brown, night blue, crème, silvery grey) and with a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds or baguette diamonds. Now, this icon is followed by a new version with a self-winding movement and a white-gold case with a slightly larger diameter of 35 mm instead of 33 mm.

It leverages its seductive power within a feminine circle of customers who expect a combination of aesthetic refinement and the exclusivity and convenience of a mechanical movement that winds itself with every motion of the wrist.

The precious dial requires considerable work and artisanship. Its base is exquisitely guilloched with concentric waves and then coated with consecutive layers of a translucent night blue lacquer. This decor creates fascinating depths above which the arrow-shaped white gold “poudré” hour markers and faceted Dauphine hands in white gold seem to float.

The elegant architecture of the movement with its highly elaborate finissage and strict compliance with the criteria of the Patek Philippe Seal can be admired through the sapphire-crystal case back.

The suave personality of this new watch is emphasized by a new brushed, satin-finished calfskin strap. The shiny navy blue strap is secured with a white-gold prong buckle.
